I was referred to Dr. Dighe by Dr. R. Gundawar as my creatinine was increasing rapidly and I wanted to avoid dialysis by going directly for kidney transplant. Dr. Dighe after reviewing my reports did not sugar coat his observations and laid bare the facts that my creatinine will continue to increase for the very simple reason that my kidneys are now shrunk and I have kidney failure and with change in medicines my CKD progression can be slowed but not reversed. He then spent almost half an hour explaining what to look forward to and since I wanted to proceed with transplant, he explained the whole process of kidney transplant along with risks, benefit analysis. For the first time in 3 years of my CKD journey I had clarity, I knew exactly what to expect, how things will progress and what to do next. He changed my CKD medicines and it helped me avoid dialysis for over 5 months as he helped me plan for transplant. I underwent Kidney transplant this January with Dr. Dighe as my Nephrologist (Transplant) at Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital. Under Dr. Dighe's supervision mine and my wife's (donor) recoveries were uneventful. It is a joyous moment everytime I get to see him for follow ups now. My quality of life has improved significantly and seeking Dr. Dighe's help was the best decision I ever made during my CKD journey. For me and my wife he is no less than a God.
