After India’s independence, it was renamed the Sardar Patel Museum, and it is also popularly known as Sardar Sangrahalaya. The museum is a history museum that showcases a rich collection ranging from porcelain artefacts and paintings to documentaries on Surat. The museum complex includes a planetarium, ancient relics, paintings, a science gallery, an amphitheatre, an art gallery, an auditorium, and a restaurant.
