SHRI AMBABAI/MAHALAXMI TEMPLE
“ Shri Ambabai/Mahalaxmi Temple, situated on the banks of the river Panchganga, is an ancient Hindu shrine dedicated to the goddess Lakshmi. Alongside Lakshmi, the temple also houses idols of Shiva, Vishnu, Bhavani, and other deities, making it one of the revered Shakti Peethas mentioned in various Hindu Puranas. Devoted pilgrims flock to this sacred site to seek the divine blessings of Goddess Mahalaxmi, the Hindu deity symbolising wealth and prosperity. Adorned with intricate carvings and sculptures, the temple walls showcase the artistic brilliance of ancient artisans. Its historical roots trace back to 634 C.E., marking the earliest recorded construction date; the temple preserves images dating back to the 11th century. Among these is the revered black stone-carved image of Mahalaxmi, standing at a height of 2 feet 8.5 inches, captivating worshippers with its divine presence.
