“Sri Chamundeshwari Temple is dedicated to the goddess Chamundeshwari and is situated on Chamundi Hills, approximately 13 km from Mysore. Positioned at an elevation of around 3300 ft above sea level, this temple is revered as a tutelary deity, especially among the Mysore Maharajas, who have worshipped the goddess for centuries. The hill, over time, acquired the name 'Sri Chamundeshwari Temple' in honour of the Goddess Chamundi, the primary figure in the 'Devi Mahathme.' Chamundeshwari is believed to be an incarnation of Parvati, the consort of Lord Shiva. Devotees from across the country and abroad visit the temple annually, seeking the fulfilment of their desires and aspirations. In Karnataka, Chamundeshwari is referred to as Naada Devathe, and it is believed that Goddess Parvati manifested in the form of Mahishasura Mardini. Chamundeshwari represents the fierce aspect of Durga, attracting worshippers with its spiritual significance and historical reverence.
