“2026 Update: Anand Bhawan Museum is a historic house museum dedicated to the Nehru family. Indian political leader Motilal Nehru acquired the property in the 1930s to serve as the residence of the Nehru family, after the original mansion, Swaraj Bhavan, was converted into the local headquarters of the Indian National Congress. Anand Bhawan Museum building was designed by Motilal Nehru himself, with assistance from a specialist architect sent by the Tatas. Anand Bhawan was a central hub for the Indian National Congress during India’s freedom struggle and now serves as a museum showcasing the personal belongings of the Nehru-Gandhi family. Anand Bhawan Museum collection includes a library with over 8,000 books, memorabilia from Motilal and Jawaharlal Nehru, antique household items, and the room of Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi.”

ALLAHABAD FORT REVIEWS

It is a historical place. It is situated on the banks of Triveni Sangam. There are Indian Army bases inside it, so some part of the fort is open to the general public and the rest is closed. Saraswati Kund, Akshayvat tree and Kali temple are present inside it, which is visited especially during Kumbh Mela...

Best tourist place and reasonable boating price. If you are looking for some silence and want to spent time with your self and nature, this best place to be. You can hear mantra chanting from far away temples, birds will be around... You can feed them which will have a nice experience..

The fort is an Army controlled area so movement is restricted, cameras are not allowed. The fort houses three highly religious places, the Akshay Vat, Patal mandir and Saraswati koop, recently the entire complex has been done up, a beautiful corrider with scupltures exhibiting scenes from hindu scriptures connected to this place are worth seeing minutely.

Good for a morning walk. Place is a bit crowdy. If you need to visit it do enter from the gate near railway station. The other gate at khuldabad is extremely dirty from outside. One more thing and that is very important: If you are entering from the gate near the fish market then make sure you park your vehicle at proper place nearby because if you park your vehicle near the gate side or near the footpath then your vehicle might be towed. They take the vehicle to khuldabad police thana and then you are charged nearly 800-1000.

It's an architectural marvel which has a sad history behind its construction. The place is beautiful particularly during sunset hours when it's romantic aura unfolds the most. It's a protected monument declared by Archaeological survey of India. There are 3 tombs dedicated to Shah Begum, Nisar Begum and Khusru. The tombs however cannot be entered but one can sit outside and enjoy a leisurely evening. There were no entry tickets. Toilet and drinking water facilities available.

One of the best places to visit in allahabad and architecture of the building is mind blowing and i personally suggest that evening is the best time to visit there and i recommend once visit is must.

When Motilal Nehru and Jawaharlal Nehru became leaders of the national movement against British colonial rule, Anand Bhawan emerged as a nerve centre of one of the greatest political movements of the 20th century. Anand Bhawan is also the story of a family that experienced both good and bad times, including weddings, births, deaths, and social gatherings, as the place witnessed both personal and political events. The history of Anand Bhawan covers fifty years of India's past, along with the lives of the Nehru family and their staff, who left an indelible mark on it.

Anand Bhawan is a quiet and well-maintained place with a lot of historical importance. It gives a good insight into India’s freedom struggle and the life of the Nehru family. The rooms, photos, and exhibits are simple but informative. The campus is peaceful and not too crowded, so you can explore at your own pace. It’s a good place to visit if you are interested in history and want a calm break from the city noise.

Nostalgia. Such a beautiful and well maintained house of Motilal Nehru and later Jawaharlal Nehru ji. Birth place of Indira Gandhi ji. I really went back to 1940s and 1960s being in this house. Must visit for all those who come to Prayagraj
