KANAN PENDARI ZOOLOGICAL GARDEN
“Kanan Pendari Zoological Garden is a lush and picturesque garden spanning 114 hectares in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. Initially established in 1997 as a small zoo with a rescue centre, the region boasts flat terrain with a gentle incline. In 2002, it was officially recognised as a micro zoo by India's central zoological authority, a status it held until 2008 when it was designated as a small zoo by the C.Z.A. Initially serving as a forest department nursery in 1975, the garden underwent a transformation into a wild animal rescue centre, housing various creatures such as deer and bears. Over time, it expanded into a cheetah breeding facility under the supervision of the Bilaspur Forest Division. Now situated 9 kilometres from Bilaspur, the zoo aims to provide a natural habitat for local wildlife for educational and conservation purposes. Its objectives include rescuing, treating, and releasing animals and breeding endangered species found in the area.
