It was built by the British before India got its independence. Lal Bahadur Shastri inaugurated the monument. Yera ago when it was built, its peak was such that a person on the other end of the city could hear the sound of the clock. The name of the freedom fighters who fought for the country's independence is gold plated on top. Numerous business centres surround the Clock Tower.
