“Okhla Bird Sanctuary stands at the juncture where the Yamuna River transitions from Delhi into the state of Uttar Pradesh. Spanning approximately 4 square kilometres, it sits at the entrance of Noida within Uttar Pradesh's Gautam Budha Nagar district. This sanctuary boasts a recorded count of over 188 plant species, encompassing 121 types of herbs, 10 species of shrubs, and 30 species of trees. Among the 15 bird sanctuaries in the state, the Okhla Bird Sanctuary stands out due to its distinct location, attracting bird species typical of thorny scrub, grassland, and wetland habitats. The Okhla Barrage's formation has contributed to this wetland area's creation. Established as a sanctuary by the Uttar Pradesh Government in 1990, it has gained recognition as one of India's 466 Important Bird Areas (IBAs).
