"Warangal Fort was built in the 13th century by the Prola Raja of the great Kakatiya dynasty. The Kakatiyas ruled the place for more than 200 years. The fort is an example of the past's architectural excellence and historical richness. Warangal Fort has four ornamental gates known as Kakatiya Kala Thoranam, which are the official emblem of the Telangana state. The fort was listed in a "tentative list" of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The Warangal Fort is most popular for its elegant and finely carved arches and pillars. Warangal Fort shows the historical grandeur and architectural preeminence of the Kakatiya Dynasty. There is a lot of parking space for both private vehicles and buses.

"Kush Mahal is another famous place in Warrangal. It is a grand 16th-century granite audience hall built during the Tughluq dynasty. It is located within the walls of the fort. Initially, it was constructed as an auditorium hall in the 14th century, later used by Shitab Khan, Warangal's Qutub Shahi Governor during the 16th century. The mahal is known for its architectural excellence in medieval India. It consists of longer walls on the eastern and western sides, small storage rooms on each side of the hall, sloping walls and slanting arches.

2026 Update: Kush Mahal is the Bhadrakali Temple represent the Chalukyan style of architecture."

Highly recommend taking the time to explore and soak in the atmosphere!

Great place to see history’s one of the most important story. Very complex architecture that was built more than 850 years ago. There have been some restoration works done to the temple in 2004 and that shows. Beautiful place to understand how ancient people carved on stone and without the use of cement. Must visit.

Om namah Shivaya..!! Beautifull architecture and filled with lord shiva spiritual energy. Well maintained and restored. Built by Rudra deva in 11th century during Kakatiya dynasty. Limited parking space. They are charging 50/- for 4 wheelers & 10/- for 2 wheelers.

Warangal Fort is perfect for history enthusiasts, architecture lovers, and spiritual seekers. The serene atmosphere, surrounded by greenery and ancient ruins, provides a glimpse into India's glorious past. Built during the Kakatiya Dynasty in the 12th century by King Ganapati Deva and later developed by his successor Rani Rudrama Devi, the fort holds significant historical, cultural, and architectural importance. Massive stone gateways, called Kakatiya Kala Thoranams, are iconic and a symbol of Telangana's heritage. Intricately carved pillars, sculptures, and motifs reflect the Kakatiya dynasty's artistic expertise. The fort was attacked and partially destroyed by the Delhi Sultanate led by Malik Kafur in the 14th century.

Warangal Fort is an amazing place to visit if you’re in Warangal. The fort is massive and full of history, with incredible views. The architecture is impressive— Wear comfortable shoes and carry water. The sunset views from the fort are absolutely worth it, and the evening light and sound show adds a nice touch. Perfect for history lovers, photographers, or just anyone looking for a peaceful and scenic spot to explore.

It was less of a fort and more of an exhibition of excellent carved architecture. The talent of the mischievous people needs to be appreciated more than the actual architects, as they made sure none of the sculptures are maintained in good condition. There is no fort, only the left overs of the fort are maintained.
