It's my wonderful opportunity to begin my Upsc preparation with Shankar IAS Academy.Good infrastructure. Polite faculty. One on one mentoring is wonderful. It is better to join in June July batch than late batches. Test series and the explanations are excellent.

I decided to prepare for UPSC & made a list of institutes available in Chennai to visit in person. Among the 7 academies I visited I can say that this is the best UPSC academy based on my observation. First, the vibe of the place was very calm & I was greeted pleasantly which eased me instantly. I had a set of questions already as I wanted to know if they answer them to my satisfaction. They patiently answered them all & never judged them as silly questions. Since Director was available I had the chance to meet & talk to him for some time. He was very polite & motivated me with his personal strategy & how he was not so bright (like myself) in school & college and managed to clear upsc twice. Then I visited the whole academy for our reference, all the classrooms, study hall, library and canteen facilities. I felt the canteen was more like a pantry but enquired people there & came to know its run by a family. Only Home cooked food will be available & all the workers from the director to the security eat from there. This was the most satisfying thing because I'm from Thanjavur & food was a major concern for me. I believe that anything well begun is half done so I feel this place is a serious place for upsc aspirants (I don't want to be playful like I was in college). I interacted with students studying in the study hall & they told me that personal mentors are very good here & they're too strict with attendance. I feel I have made a good start to my journey to become an IAS.
