The College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram (CET), is the oldest engineering institution in Kerala, established in 1939 by Chithira Thirunal, the then Maharaja of Travancore. It is located in Thiruvananthapuram and currently affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University since 2015. Before that, it was under the University of Kerala. CET offers undergraduate, graduate, and research programs across eight engineering branches. The college started functioning on July 3, 1939, initially operating from the Chief Engineer's former office and bungalow (now the office of the Postmaster General). Major T. H. Mathewman served as the first principal. The college initially had a student intake of 21 for civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering courses under the then Travancore University. In 1960, CET moved to its current 250-acre campus in Kulathoor, 13 km from Thiruvananthapuram's central railway station. The campus features impressive architecture designed by Prof. Joseph Chandra Alexander, who was instrumental in establishing Kerala’s first architectural education center at CET. The college is accredited by AICTE and offers BTech, MTech, BArch, M.Plan, MBA, and MCA programs. Admission to undergraduate programs is based on the Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination, while GATE scores are used for MTech admissions. CET also offers part-time programs for working professionals and diploma holders can enter through a lateral entry scheme. The institution is consistently ranked among the top due to its legacy and strong alumni network.

First Government Engineering college of Kerala is College of engineering TRIVANDRUM aka CET. If you are coming from Malabar Region or if you are non trivandrum wala then get down in Trivandrum from thampanoor catch Kollam / Attingal KSRTC bus which is going via sreekaryam and say chavadimukk stop once you get down in chavadimukk it will take around 10 minutes only to the CET college. From chavadimukk junction take left and go straight. If you are coming in train you can get down in kazhakkoottam station and get in Trivandrum bus which is going via sreekaryam don't forget to ask the driver whether it's going via chavadimukk / sreekaryam, sreekaryam is the main town near to CET. There are so many bakeries and restuarants and noramal hotel available near to the campus. SBI Bank is situated opposite to the campus in campus main building first floor they have a SBI ATM. 2 canteen is currently working in campus.

I went to attend the flagship technical fest DRISHTI 2024 its a lifetime experience. The events where great and i got the opportunity to met the brilliant minds there, got the opportunity to attend events and all. It’s overall the best collage in Kerala.

One of the best engineering college in Kerala.. The only thing lacking is a ground and a men's hostel... The college have a hostel committee to check and do the needful for those students who need hostel facilities.They publish the list of private hostels approved by the college. Hostel fees is around 4k-5k and all the hostels are just 10 minutes walking distance apart. You need a college life ,a great 4years and be an engineer after your course...it's the right place. The placement stats are great across the years.

One of the best engineering college in kerala. 100% placement for the eligible. I will suggest, the 2nd best mechanical department after CET(specialisations in automobile and production). The college is very good in Academics. Beside the academics, the college atmosphere encourages the extra curricular activities. Student political organisations are very much active. There is full freedom for the students in the campus. Campus inculcates the overall development of the students. The activities in the campus is governed by the presidentially elected students union. An ideal campus for a student.

What a nice ambiance. I have come here to attend a class and i totally loved the atmosphere here.
