“Delhi Public Library was inaugurated by India's first Prime Minister, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, on October 27, 1951. The Library operates under the administrative control of the Ministry of Culture, which is part of the Government of India. There are 165,854 registered members. The library network comprises a Central Library, 3 Branch Libraries, 20 Sub-Branch Libraries, 1 Community Library, and 8 Resettlement Colony Libraries. Delhi Public Library offers diverse books, journals, and other reading materials in various Indian languages to disseminate knowledge, information and culture. Delhi Public Library provides free library services and e-resources for research-oriented purposes in the NCT of Delhi. Swayam is an educational program initiated by the Government of India to achieve the cardinal principles of Education Policy: access, equity, and quality.
