2026 Update: Library provides reading facilities for physically challenged persons (Deaf, Dumb, Blind etc). These libraries aim to collect, preserve, and microfilm documents of research and local importance, maintain reference materials, and publish bibliographies. They also promote library services through exhibitions, educational talks, seminars, and other events. Public libraries in the state include specialized sections such as book collection and processing, reading rooms, periodicals, technical assistance, binding and preservation, science and technology, manuscript archives, and conference/seminar halls. To encourage reading habits among the public, the libraries also organize state-level conferences, workshops, rare book exhibitions, and awareness programs. Furthermore, digital initiatives have been introduced, including software for the Directorate of Library Services (HQ) developed with the support of NIC, and a database of reference documents covering district and sub-division libraries, supported by computer systems supplied to enhance library management and accessibility."
