"The Partition Museum has attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors since its inception. Founded by the Government of Punjab in collaboration with The Arts and Cultural Heritage Trust (UK), the museum was established to honour and memorialise those affected by the Partition of India. The museum spans over 17,000 square feet and offers an immersive, world-class experience through multiple media formats. Its collection includes items brought by refugees during the sudden partition of Pakistan and India, as well as stories, materials, and documents related to the post-partition riots. The museum offers free entry for children aged five and below and for Partition survivors. They also actively promote internships through an ongoing program.

2026 Update: The Partition Museum has been operating for over 70 years. The museum's first public consultation was held with over 1500 participants."

THE PARTITION MUSEUM REVIEWS

It is an amazing place if you like history. It elaborates on the detailed history of the Indian Pakistan partition in 1947 and audio-video stories of survivors from the time. Go here with sufficient time in hand and with genuine interest in history. There's a small souvenir shop at the exit as well. And the entire town-hall area for walk tour and shopping.

Visiting the Partition Museum was a deeply moving experience. The exhibits provided a vivid and emotional portrayal of the harrowing stories of displacement, loss, and resilience during the 1947 partition of India and Pakistan. Personal artifacts, photographs, and survivor testimonies brought the historical trauma to life, offering a poignant reminder of the human cost of political decisions. The museum’s atmosphere was somber yet educational, highlighting both the pain of the past and the importance of remembering this dark chapter in history. It left me with a lasting sense of empathy and reflection.

A must visit place in Amritsar. Close to the greatest place, the Golden Temple, this museum lucidly describes in detail the events of during British rule, indian independent struggle and the horrific story of Indian history...the partition of India. Strongly recommend to use the audio guide to get the real understanding.

The War Memorial & Museum in Amritsar is a profound tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of Indian soldiers. The museum is well-curated, showcasing a vast collection of artifacts, weapons, and personal stories from various wars and military operations. The outdoor memorial, with its towering statues and solemn atmosphere, evokes a sense of respect and pride. This museum is a must-visit for anyone interested in India's military history and the incredible stories of those who have served the nation.

If you find yourself in Amritsar, I recommend visiting this museum, as it can be thoroughly explored in approximately 3 hours. Really enjoyed looking at military weaponry, soldier models and of course the sword is the highlight.

Beautiful museum that commemorated the Sikh community. The art is very beautiful and true. Some is violent so may not be suitable for kids. Really talented artists made the artwork here. Easy to find. Staff is very friendly and helpful!! The museum is free of cost to all people. Come see this beautiful museum at the Golden Temple! Good vibes here.

Very good place. Every pilgrim is recommended to visit. Very interactive and interesting. Lot of different ways to represent sikh history. Entry is free.

Free to enter historical Sikh museum with paintings and images of famous Sikhs. They're are also great artifacts includes weapons that belonged to the Gurus. There is a lift present for easier access.
