“Partition Museum is housed within Amritsar's historic town hall. The Museum has drawn innumerable visitors since its inception. Established by the Government of Punjab in collaboration with The Arts and Cultural Heritage Trust of the United Kingdom, this museum serves as a memorial to those affected by the partition, an event etched profoundly in the subcontinent's history. The partition is one of the most pivotal occurrences, marking the largest human migration in history, impacting up to 20 million individuals. Occupying a grand 17,000-square-foot area within the iconic Town Hall building, the museum employs diverse multimedia elements to craft an immersive, world-class experience. Its collection includes articles brought by refugees during the tumultuous partition of Pakistan. As a hub for stories, artefacts, and documents relating to the post-partition riots following the division of British India into two independent nations, the museum actively champions internships through an ongoing program, extending free entry to children and survivors.
