“Gandhi Memorial Museum is housed in the historic Tamukkam Palace in Madurai. The Museum originally belonged to the Nayak Dynasty's Rani Mangammal and was founded around 1670. Among its notable exhibits is a blood-stained piece of cloth worn by Mahatma Gandhi at the time of his assassination. Visitors can also view an intriguing letter addressed to Adolf Hitler, written by Gandhi himself, in which he refers to Hitler as 'Dear Friend.' Additionally, the museum showcases a 'Bapuji Visual Biography' featuring photographs, paintings, and sculptures. One of the highlights is an original letter penned by Gandhi to Narayanan Satsangi of Devakottai. Gandhi Memorial Museum offers a wide range of activities for visitors and residents alike. Daily classes are conducted on various subjects including self-employment, Hindi and Sanskrit courses, yoga, pranayama, meditation, and more.
