"Puducherry Museum provides a collection of rare bronzes and stone sculptures from the Pallava and Chola dynasties and objects excavated from Arikamedu. The Museum is an extensive gallery of statues and archaeological finds from the Roman settlement of Arikamedu. The Museum offers a fascinating glimpse of French culture that resembles that of the 17th to 20th centuries. The Museum's display includes 81 Chola bronze sculptures, ranking as one of the largest collections of Chola bronzes. They provide knowledge about heritage artefacts and statues. The bronze gallery exhibits the images of gods and goddesses and an extensive collection of temple lamps used over the centuries across different dynasties.

2026 Update: Puducherry Museum features archaeological remains from French colonial times, such as clocks, photographs, wooden furniture, and even a 3.5-ton cannon captured during the British period."

"Dr. Abdul Kalam Puducherry Science Centre and Planetarium spans over 3 acres, with a 1,500 sq. meter built-up area. The museum currently has six focal areas with ample space for expansion. This was the best trip. The stone figurines outside are just a welcome treat to the eyes. Inside is a plethora of war spears, swords, french lances, flintlock pistols, musket guns, daggers. Ashtonishingly beautiful French period wooden furnitures, marble busts of French women are under display inside. They've got ox and horse chariots at the back too. They even have gutenberg model metal press that printed newspapers. Then comes the best part, never-ending collection of bronze figurines of lord Shiva, vishnu and female goddesses are mesmerizing. You can spend an hour admiring each of these metal idols for their details and charm.

Puducherry Museum is one of the must visit places as you really get to know about the history of Puducherry along with that there are various old sculptures which are preserved very safely. There is a nominal ticket price to visit the museum.

Very excellent old statues, rare stones, wooden things like chairs, mirrors, cot used by old emperors are preserved. Also mud pot of olden people is present there. The knife and other weapons used by kings in olden days is seen here. Also vehicles used by royal people in olden days is seen here. Old coins are also preserved here. Very old things are found from early bc period.

MAHAKAVI BHARATHIYAR MUSEUM REVIEWS

The Mahakavi Bharathiyar Memorial Museum, a Grade I heritage structure, is a synthesis of French colonial and traditional Tamil-style architecture. The façade is in vernacular architectural style with a 'thinnai' and a 'thazhvaram'. To-day it appears as an immortal memorial to the great poet. In a way it was a centre of deliberations aiming at attaining the freedom to the country. The house where the poet's kuyil once sounded its melody, has been acquired by the Govt. of Pondicherry in the year 1972. It is a very interesting place to visit. Here Mahakavi Bharathiar lived for ten years and wrote many of his best poems here. Many people does not know the place. So it is very peaceful to visit no disturbances. Here lived to remain unknown by the British people. The place is slightly extended to show his specialities. Must visit if you go to Pondicherry. It near the Rock beach.

Beautiful place. Must visit. The lady who serves there is well acquainted with Bharatiyar's bio. Since I only read English the English excerpts by Bharatiyar were very insightful. Please do not miss, this place is a hidden gem. Everyone, especially youngsters can take inspiration to inform and live better lives.

All positive vibes in the world you can feel in this place. What a Man....nicely maintained place with lots of pictures and books...

Overall awesome experience. Really u people come and visit here. Excellent place for students to develop their knowledge. Here Mentors are friendly manner to explain everything we need related to science and innovation.

Excellent science centre at Puducherry. Must visit place for kids. Very engaging and encouraging to learn science for children. Better go early to avoid school crowd. Buy Planetarium show ticket at counter. Entry ticket is only for visiting and not for the show. Confirm show timings at the counter, since they need minimum number of visitors to start show. My two children really enjoyed. Cheers.
