“Ranchi Science Center offers a variety of exhibits for both children and adults. Managed by the Jharkhand Council on Science and Technology (JCST), the museum was developed by the National Council of Science Museums, a division of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The science centre is housed in a two-story building covering 42,000 square meters on a 13-acre site. It features three permanent thematic galleries and plays a vital role in promoting public awareness of science and technology. The centre offers interactive exhibits on topics such as simple machines, sound, optics, pendulums, and static models of prehistoric animals.”

Established in 1974 on the premises of the Tribal Research Institute, this museum was originally known as the Ranchi Museum. The museum buildings contain numerous historical and contemporary artworks created by renowned artists from Jharkhand. "Tribal Museum offers a visual journey into the lives of various tribes that have played a pivotal role in Jharkhand’s history. It highlights the significance of art, music, and dance in daily tribal life. The museum also showcases traditional tools and musical instruments that are integral to the culture of different tribes. This ethnographic museum features dioramas depicting 32 major tribal groups of Jharkhand, including the Mundas, Asurs, and Khonds. Additionally, it has a well-equipped library that can accommodate up to 300 people. Features interactive displays and workshops, and cultural events. Entry to the museum is free.

2026 Update: Tribal Museum receives 1,000 visitors monthly."

So nice place You can visit your family and friends. Ranchi Science Centre is the first science centre in the state of Jharkhand in India, under Jharkhand Council on Science & Technology of Department of Science & Technology, Government of Jharkhand. In 8 acre area, there are several interactive exhibits on simple machines, sound, optics, pendulum and static models of prehistoric animals. It has many facilities available. 3D projection theater ,computer hall,conference room, auditorium,Exbhit development laboratory, science library.

One of my Favourite place in Ranchi, must visit this place with your friends and family. If you are interested in Science. Every things belongs to science. There is also a Planetarium building, they run documentry about aur planets after every 10-20 Minutes time interval.

Well maintained than previous. Nice place to visit with children. The science section is improved all the machines were working and explained by the museum staff.

The museum was built to express the cultural heritage of Jharkhand. It has ten galleries, and contains paintings by artists from many states such as Bengal, Orissa, and Bihar. The museum has a library that is well-equipped library and can house up to 300 people.

A great place to learn about the diverse tribes in Jharkhand! I came here for my Masters project research and the information shared about each tribe really assisted me in taking my work further. I would like to request those taking care of the museum to consider minor changes to the curation to make sure people are able to appreciate each detail that has been so meticulously done.

This museum is very awesome , the art is beautifully done. When I entered into this museum , I was amzed. I coulxn't resist my eyes to miss any corner of it. This place is much worth of time. If you visit this wonderful museum , to understand the vast culture, lifestyle of tribal communities.

Nice place to visit for tribal knowledge.They have different kinds of tribal information with their pictures of households and some information.
