SUKHNA LAKE PARK
Since 1958
“Sukhna Lake Park encompasses a three-square-kilometre rain-fed lake, created in 1958 by damming the Sukhna Choe, a seasonal stream flowing down from the Shivalik mountains. In winter, the park transforms into a sanctuary for various exotic migratory species, including Siberian Ducks, Storks, and Cranes. The lake serves as a venue for festive celebrations, such as the Mango festival during the monsoons, and is considered a meditative space at the end of Sukhna Lake. With the lake surrounded by lush greenery, it becomes an ideal spot to experience the harmonious meeting of nature and the divine. The captivating allure of the entire area makes a journey to Chandigarh incomplete without a visit. Migratory birds predominantly grace the lake during winter, and the scenic green space features a manmade lake with paddle boats. Information panels detail the diverse flora and fauna that enhance the overall experience.
