"Hawa Mahal was built in 1799 AD by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh. The wind blowing through the windows will always keep the palace cool. The palace has 953 small casements, from which the royal women used to see the city's processions. The palace is a blend of Mughal and Rajput architectural styles and is constructed from pink and red sandstone. Hawa Mahal is the most iconic landmark and is famous for its pink latticed windows and balconies that give the town below a spectacular view. The five-story palace was built in the form of Krishna's crown because Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh was devoted to Krishna, the Hindu god. The archaeological department of the Government of Rajasthan maintains the mahal. Visitors can explore the stone-carved screens, small casements, and arched roofs.

2026 Update: Hawa Mahal rises to about 50 feet, with the first and second floors having patios and accessible only through ramps."
