Belapur Fort was built in the 16th century by the Siddis of Janjira and later came under the control of the Portuguese and the British. Shazada Wal jah bahadur is the architect of the fort. The fort features an underground tunnel that connects it to Gharapuri Island, home to the famous Elephanta Caves. Though now in ruins, Belapur Fort once held significant strategic importance. It was used as a watchtower to guard the surrounding areas. Located on top of a hill overlooking the Arabian Sea, the fort offers panoramic coastal views and is surrounded by lush greenery, creating a serene and picturesque setting for visitors.
