DASHASHWAMEDH GHAT
Since 1740
“Dashashwamedh Ghat was established by Peshwa Balaji Baji Rao in 1748 and is located near the ancient Kashi Vishwanath Temple on the banks of the Ganges River. In 1774, it was restored by Ahilyabai Holkar, the Queen of Indore. The ghat is renowned for the daily Agni Pūjā, performed in the evening by a group of priests devoted to Lord Shiva. It is the most popular and frequently visited ghat in Varanasi, hosting the world-famous Ganga Aarti every evening. Dashashwamedh Ghat has been a sacred site for devotees, pilgrims, and tourists for years. It offers a profound spiritual, religious, and cultural experience.”
