The place is awesome with huge area and lovely view on the Ganges. this is a place of keen interest for the people who love to know about Indian history. It has a large museum inside that contains loads and loads of clothes, cars, chariots, palanquins, Guns, swords, knives, maces, clocks, pots, mats & decorative items that were used by the Maharajas and their families in the 18th & 19th century who resided here at that time. Best time to visit is in the afternoon so that you can see the sunset from the fort on the side of the Ganges. It's a must visit place.
I feel this is one of the biggest forts that I have ever visited in my life. Loved the architecture and the museum walk.

According to the belief, when Shiva Parvati was observing the pond, the gem of Parvati's ear fell in Chakrapushkarni. It was named Manikarnika because of the fall of Parvati's ear gem. Presently, this ghat of Kashi is famous for both pilgrimage & cremation ground. In all there are 52 Shakti Peethas all over India, and Manikarnika Ghat is one of them, as Sati's earrings fell at this spot.Every day, more than 300 bodies are cremated in this ghat.Hindu mythology teaches that the ghat is especially sacred and that people cremated there receive moksha. The well at the ghat is called Manikarnika Kund and was built by Lord Vishnu. The Manikarnika shrine is an important place of worship for Shaktism sect of Hinduism. It is near to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. The Shakti of Manikarnika is addressed as Vishalakshi & Manikarni.
