“National Institute of Technology Srinagar is an exclusive Educational institute in the Northern Regions of the country. The institution has been one of the eighteen Regional Engineering Colleges funded by the Govt. of India during the 2nd Plan. Their aim is to design technically educated and vastly talented engineers, future innovators and entrepreneurs, and graduates with an understanding of the needs and problems of the industry, the society, the state and the nation. They received the status of National Institute of Technology with deemed university status in August 2003 and gained full autonomy in its Academics. There is a residential Institute with an accommodation facility in Hostels and Staff-Quarters. National Institute of Technology Srinagar has four Boys and one Girls hostel which accommodates about 1500 boys and 200 girls.
