“Sanjay Gandhi National Park, established in 1969 in Borivali, Mumbai, is one of the city’s top national parks. Spanning 104 sq km, the park is divided into three zones: a buffer, a tourist, and a core area. The park is home to 800 varieties of flowering plants, 284 bird species, 5,000 types of insects, 36 mammals, 50 reptiles, and 150 butterfly species. This lush green space holds significant geographic, historical, ecological, and imaginative value. The SGNP Kanheri Caves, a 2,000-year-old Buddhist cave complex, and the Van Rani toy train, one of the park's oldest attractions, enhance the appeal. The park is known for the rich floral diversity, abundant wildlife, and picturesque surroundings. Sanjay Gandhi National Park attracts over 2 million visitors annually. Within the park, you can find the popular Jain Temple and several public walking trails. Buses offer convenient transportation from Mumbai to the park on holidays and Sundays.
