A great spot to visit with family and friends, offering superb South Indian food with a touch of North Indian flavors as well. The food and service are excellent, though the restaurant is often overcrowded, so expect a bit of a wait to get a seat, similar to other popular places like Sabarees. Both AC and Non-AC sections are usually full, adding to the wait times. The atmosphere can feel rushed as others are waiting for your seat, which affects the peace of the dining experience. However, the helpful staff, who speak fluent Hindi, make up for it. Pricing is moderate, making it a solid option for traditional South Indian meals.

Had idli , chapathi and parota . Taste was good here and service was quick and mix fried rice was also good. Before boarding train i would recommend this restaurant for parcel. Walkable distance from railway station and Madurai temple.

Nice south indian restaurant. The filter coffee here is awesome. Other foods, e.g., dosa, idli and veg biryani were also good. Highly recommend.

MURUGAN IDLI SHOP REVIEWS

One of the best place in Madurai to have fresh Idli. We went there for breakfast. Service was fast and food was delicious. They serve food on a banana leaf which provides an authentic touch.

The soft and fluffiest idly I’ve ever eaten. We order ghee podi idly. The ghee flavor was overpowering but those who love that flavor can enjoy it.

One of best place to have idli, pongal and idiyappam. Podi idli is spicier version. All the items are served with 4 chutney and samabr.

HOTEL GOWRI KRISHNA REVIEWS

One of the very old authentic and good vegetarian restaurant at Bypass road, Madurai. There are both AC and non-AC dining area within this restaurant. Both the South and North Indian dishes age very tasty. They also have all Chinese vegetarian dishes too. Service by the staff is good and they won’t accept tips in this restaurant as we have to pay the bill in the counter directly. Parking area also available adjacent to the restaurant.

This is the first restaurant where I ate in Madurai on my way from the airport to Kodaikanal and I was just astonished by the taste of dosas, Vada, Poori, Pongal and sweets especially Kova and Badam Halwa. The filter coffee after a good breakfast was the cherry on the top.

Excellent coffee one of the best at the bypass madurai . You can get food and services round the clock .
